Research

Science is a systematic discipline that builds and organizes knowledge in the form of testable hypotheses and predictions. In medicine, science encompasses a wide array of research, extending from basic research – involving fundamental scientific principles – to clinical research, which involves studies of individuals who may be subjects in clinical trials. Within this spectrum is applied or translational research. The scientific community is a network of interacting scientists who conduct research. By having peer review, through discussion and debate within journals and conferences, scientists maintain the quality of research methodology and objectivity when interpreting results.
